Nitish for inclusion of all state capitals in Smart City Mission

Patna,(BiharTimes): Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar on Thursday, demanded the inclusion of all state capitals in the list of Smart City Mission.

Talking to the media after meeting Union urban development minister M Venkaiah Naidu in New Delhi he said the state capitals which did not figure in the first list should be given a fresh opportunity to compete for selection under the Smart City Mission.

He also told Naidu that while selecting cities under the Mission, parameters like regional imbalance, existing gaps in institutional capabilities and variation in current level of development need to be included.

The Bihar chief minister also said that Rs100 crore for a smart city is not a sufficient amount.
According to reports from New Delhi Naidu told Nitish that only 20 cities were to be selected in the first round and nominees from all states would be covered under the next two rounds.

No city from Bihar, UP, West Bengal, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand etc figure in the first list.
