Trucks enter Nepal after Madhesis chased away from border

Patna,(BiharTimes): After months of blockade and violence, which left 58 dead, hundreds of trucks entered Nepal through Raxaul-Birgunj border crossing on Saturday.

Reports said that this happened after more than 100 armed men from Nepal, with the support of traders, set on fire the tents of Madhesis who had been blockading the Maitry Bridge for the last many weeks.

The Madhesis, that is the people of Indian origin in Nepal, sitting near the border area were reportedly beaten and chased away with the Nepalese Police not intervening.

The Madhesis have been demanding the amendment in the new Constitution so that they can be treated as equal citizens.

They are also protesting against division of their ancestral homeland under the seven-province structure.
