Former JNUSU chief Ashutosh wanted by police is also from Bihar

Patna,(BiharTimes): Kanhaiya Kumar is not the only student from Bihar facing sedition charge. Of the five, who have still not been arrested is Ashutosh, who was elected as JNUSU president as All India Students’ Association candidate in 2014. AISA is the students wing of CPI ML (Liberation), whose general secretary is Dipankar Bhattacharya.

Ashutosh, along with Rama Naga, Umar Khalid, Anirban Bhattacharya and Anant Prakash Narayan have been accused of being involved with the February 9 event.

Ashutosh was born in Barh in Patna district of ihar, where his father is station manager.

In fact AISA swept the JNUSU election in 2014 just a few months after Narendra Modi came to power. Another

candidate, Chintu Kumari, from Ara was elected as general secretary the same year.

Chintu too is in the limelight as she is among those spearheading the movement in protest against the arrest of Kanhaiya. In fact a newspaper wrongly reported on Monday that her name also figured in the list of those wanted by police. However, she strongly denied it.

Chintu (25) is pursuing her PhD at the Centre for Political Studies at Jawaharlal Nehru University.

Both Ashutosh and Chintu hotly deny that any of the accused students were involved in raising anti-India slogan and directly blame ABVP and Sangh Parivar for creating such a situation.
