Theft at RJD leader Raghuvansh Singh’s house in Patna

Patna,(BiharTimes): Some valuable items, including ornaments, were stolen from the house of former Union minister for rural development and senior RJD leader Raghuvansh Prasad Singh, on the intervening night of Saturday-Sunday. The house is located in Vidhayak Colony in Kautilya Nagar area under Airport police station of Patna.

SHO of Airport police station Tanik Kumar said thieves entered from the kitchen on the first floor by breaking its door and searched three rooms and also broke open a steel almirah.

An FIR has been lodged in this regard and raids are being conducted to nab the thieves. A FSL team has collected samples.

Raghuvansh himself was not yet sure about the amount of items stolen as there was no one in the house at the time of the theft.

However, the SHO said the police were preparing a list of stolen items and evaluating them.
Raghuvansh Singh’s PA Harish was quoted by the PTI as saying that six empty jewellery boxes were lying on the floor, which was also strewn with clothes and other items.

Commenting on the theft Union food minister Ram Vilas Paswan said: “As you so sow do you reap,” and went on to blame the Nitish Kumar government for the deteriorating law and order situation.

BJP Rajya Sabha MP and former Union minister Dr C P Thakur did not rule out the possibility of the state government involvement in the theft as Raghuvansh Babu, according to him, was critical of it.

However, people of the colony recall that this is not the first such case of theft in this posh area of Patna in the last few years. Thieves had burgled into the house of many serving and former ministers, MPs and legislators even when the then JD(U)-BJP government used to claim of very good law and order situation.

In most of the cases the theft have been committed during winter months.
