Nitish contradicts his own party, Lalu, Congress on PM’s Pak visit

Patna,(BiharTimes): Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar on Friday did something very unusual. Five days after a very strong criticism of Narendra Modi’s visit to Pakistan by his own party––Janata Dal (United)––spokesman, Neeraj Kumar, he welcomed prime minister’s drop-by to Lahore.
Incidentally, on Friday he, in a way, not only contradicted his own party’s stand but also that of RJD supremo Lalu Prasad and of Congress.
“It is my personal view that visiting Pakistan and attending family function at Nawaz Sharif’s place was a good gesture even if it was pre-planned and not a surprise one,” Nitish said stressing the need for good relationship with the western neighbour, which he visited in November 2012.
However, he hastened to add that after every such move attempts are made to disturb the overall atmosphere.
Ironically on January 3, that is, a day after seven Indian soldiers, including a Lieutenant Colonel, was killed JD(U) spokesman, Neeraj said Modi always boasts that he has 56-inch chest. He had appeased Pakistani prime minister by visiting him in a hush-hush manner. But all this cannot change the mindset of terrorists, Neeraj said adding the country needs prime minister with six-in brain.
Neeraj, considered close to Nitish, went on to add that it is good for a country to have a cordial relationship with its neighbours, but people of India should not be kept in the dark. Any discussion with Pakistan should be made public, the JDIU) spokesman had said.
It remained a mystery as to why Nitish took such a stand a fortnight after PM’s visit to Pakistan and six days after the terrorists’ attack in Pathankot.
While he was saying so RJD chief Lalu and Mahila Congress national general secretary, Nagma, were taking a totally different stand.
“When two engineers of a private firm were killed these people made it a national issue. Why are not they speaking now? What was the defence minister doing in Goa at the time of attack?” Lalu asked.
Like JD(U) spokesman last week Lalu too referred to 56-inch chest of Narendra Modi. “How then these terrorists managed to infiltrate? The country is not in the safe hands,” he said aggressively.
Lalu also questioned as to how this could happen after meeting Nawaz Sharif?
Meanwhile, Congress leader Nagma also spoke in the same vein. The general secretary of the Mahila Congress asked as to why the prime minister of India deemed it fit to drop in Lahore just after a casual invitation from the Pakistani prime minister.
She said that the BJP people are boasting when actually seven of Indian soldiers had to lose their lives against six terrorists. Like Lalu and Neeraj she too asked as to when will the “mooh tod jawab” to terrorists come?
