Drug dealer’s licence cancelled even as stores put up Tej Pratap’s photo to deflect attention

Patna,(BiharTimes): The Bihar government on Saturday cancelled the licence of Pancham Pharma and suspended for 90 days of four others––Devy Enterprises, Shruti Pharma, Lovely Pharma and Gandhi Medico––on the charge of violating drugs and cosmetic rules and norms.
They are all wholesale dealers of Patna’s Govind Mitra Road.
A case has also been registered asgainst Pancham Pharma.
The action came even after many dealers put up the photos of health minister Tej Pratap Yadav, apparently to deflect the attention of drug authorities, who have carried out raids on several stores.
But Tej Pratap had asked the drugs controller not to be misled by the posters and carry out raids against all those involved in illegal business.
Meanwhile, Bihar Drug Controller, Ramesh Kumar, said that 72 raids were conducted in December last and nine more in the current month. He said the campaign would continue.
According to him they were conducted to prevent the sale of exorbitantly priced spurious, banned and expiry medicine. Besides, there is proliferation of magic remedies on claims of miracle.
He said the photo of the health minister had been put up to tarnish his image.
