Stone-mafia behind Lande’s transfer from Rohtas: IB

Patna,(BiharTimes): If the Intelligence Bureau (IB) report submitted to the Union home ministry is to be believed the stone mining mafia was behind the transfer of Shivdeep Lande as Rohtas superintendent of police in August last year.
Incidentally, he was also holding the additional charge of SP of Kaimur. He had served as the SP of Rohtas for only six months.
There are dozens of stone-crushing machines in these two districts, mostly near the Grand Trunk Torad.
According to the IB report Lande, now STF SP at police headquarters in Patna, was shifted from Rohtas under pressure from the illegal stone mining mafia as he carried out several raids on their illegal business. Cases were also lodged against them.
IB reports also confirmed the link of senior police officers of the rank of DIG and DSP with the mafia. A couple of police officials of neighbouring Aurangabad district are also involved in this racket.
It needs to be mentioned that a few years back the name of Gopal Narayan Singh, former state BJP president, figured in it.
