Sarfraz Alam suspended from JD(U), action likely against Bima Bharti too

Patna,(BiharTimes): Janata Dal (United) on Saturday suspended the party MLA from Jokihat, Sarfraz Alam, following a case lodged by Indrapal Singh Bedi, a passenger of Dibrugarh-New Delhi Rajdhani Express, that the legislator misbehaved with him and his wife while travelling from Katihar to Patna on January 17.

Till now Sarfraz has been denying that he had travelled by that train on Jan 17.

However, CCTV camera confirmed that he was present at Katihar and Patna railway stations on that day and train superintendent confirmed that he travelled on that coach.

The suspension came after a high-level meeting of the party chaired by its national president Sharad Yadav.

Earlier, chief minister Nitish Kumar had hinted that the party would take action against all those who take law into their hands.

According to JD(U)’s state unit chief, Vashistha Narayan Singh, the party may take action against another party MLA, Bima Bharti, only after a report comes from the Purnea district administration.

It is alleged that both she and the Purnea MP of the party, Santosh Kushwaha, facilitate the escape of Bima’s husband, Awadesh Mandal, a notorious gangster, from police custody after he was arrested on January 17.

On the other hand the BJP spokesman, Vinod Narayan Jha, demanded immediate arrest of Sarfraz Alam, and accused the Janata Dal (United) of defending him.

Meanwhile, Sarfraz on Saturday appeared at GRP police station. He and his supporters had a tiff with waiting newsmen and photo journalists there.
