Ranjit surrenders after MLA mother severely reprimanded by Lalu

Patna,(BiharTimes): The main accused in doctor assault case of Gaya, Ranjit Yadav, surrendered before the court of additional chief judicial magistrate, Gaya, Sampat Kumar on Friday after her MLA mother, Kunti Devi, was severely reprimanded by RJD chief Lalu Prasad.

Reports said that the party supremo told the Atari MLA to ask her son to immediately surrender.

Dr Satyendra Kumar Sinha, a contractual medical officer, was assaulted in Bathani government hospital of Gaya district on Wednesday.

His mother, lawyer Shakil Ahmad and some supporters, accompanied him to the court where Ranjit pleaded innocence.

He was sent to Gaya Central Jail on 14-day judicial custody. It was in this jail that his father and former MLA, Rajendra Yadav, convicted in a murder case had spent a long time. He got life-term for killing a village girl.

However, before the last year’s Assembly election he was shifted to Buxar Central Jail.

Ranjit claimed after the surrender that the doctors posted at the Bathani primary health centre indulge in private practice and sell government-provided medicines either at their private clinics or to other medical shops.

He said that the doctor abused him when he went to inquire about the complaint and asked for the stock register. He sought an inquiry by the DIG of Magadh range or by some other senior police officer.

The police had earlier arrested another accused in the case, Rambali Yadav and said that the rest five persons involved in the incident would soon be arrested.

On the other hand Dr Satyendra Kumar Sinha have requested the health department director-in-chief, Azad Hind Prasad, to transfer him to any other suitable place as he would never go back to Bathani hospital.

Ranjit had been absconding in two criminal cases registered against him in 2013, including the murder of a local JD(U) functionary.
