Tej Ptatap threatens to file defamation suit against ‘Aaj Tak’ journalist, tiff ends with handshake

Patna,(BiharTimes): Bihar health minister, Tej Pratap Yadav, who is the eldest son of RJD chief, Lalu Prasad Yadav, on Tuesday, publicly threatened to sue the special correspondent of a private television channel, Rohit Kumar Singh, after he refused to delete a photo taken by him in his cell-phone.

Several other photojournalists captured the moment on their still or video cameras.

It all happened when Tej Pratap was attending the 20th birth anniversary function of RJD with his father and younger brother and deputy chief minister Tejaswi Yadav.

In the midst of the function Tej asked a media person to hand over his still camera to him. He then started clicking pictures.

Upon this Rohit took a picture of the minister in his mobile. Some RJD workers informed this to Tej, who became angry. He asked the journalist to delete the still photo he has taken. But, the reporter refused to do so.

The minister got furious and took to mike to threaten to file a defamation suit against Rohit.

The mediapersons, who were covering the programme, took objection to Tej’s behaviour and threatened to boycott the event.

Banka MP Jay Prakash Yadav tried to take the mike away from Tej but failed.

Sensing that the situation may go out of control, Lalu intervened. He tried to pacify Tej and then called the reporter and asked him to delete the photo but he refused and walked down from the stage.

At the end of the function Lalu called the reporter on the stage and asked both the reporter as well as Tej to shake hands and end the issue.
