Agreement with Mozambique on pulses only to benefit Adani: Janata Dal (U)

Patna,(BiharTimes): Janata Dal (United) on Saturday alleged that the entire exercise to import one lakh tonnes of pulses from Mozambique has been made to benefit Adanis.

Criticizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi for signing an agreement with Mozambique for importing pulses in 2016-17, JD(U) MLC Niraj Kumar and its state general secretary Rabindra Singh, in a joint statement, alleged that Adani Ports signed an agreement with India Pulses and Grains Association (IPGA), in 2015 under which the work of import of pulses has been handed over to Adani group.

Apart from this, the work of ensuring proper upkeep of pulses at the ports is with the Adani Ports. Is the entire exercise not meant to extend benefit to Adani Group? they asked.

IPGA is the apex organisation of import and export traders of pulses and grains in the country.

The JD(U) leaders said, the Modi government on the one hand talks about Make in India, while on the other hand, it signs agreement with a country like Mozambique for import of pulses. Thus the government indirectly declared that Indian farmers are incapable at international forum.

The JD(U) leaders asked as to why there is such a steep fall in pulses production during the Modi era, thus necessitating a whopping increase in its import in the last couple of years.
