Maharani of Hathua passes away


 

Patna, 10th July, 2016. Maharani Durgeshwari Sahi of the erstwhile Hathwa Raj family passed away today at the age of 86 at the Ram Bhawan Palace.

Maharani Durgeshwari Sahi was instrumental in starting the Hathwa Group of Industries and the Pallavi International hospitality chain and re-organizing the state after the early demise of her husband Late Maharajah Gopeshwar Prasad Sahi.

She did her college from the Patna Women's College and higher studies from Magadh University.


The late Maharani Sahiba was a social worker and took care of the several trusts and organizations working for the poor and needy. She also actively participated in business and politics. The hathwa raj family under her leadership diversified into business in the post-independance period after the princely ruling states merged into the Indian Union.

She is survived by her son Maharajah Mrigendra Pratap Sahi and left behind a legacy which is unparalled. Her last rites will be performed today late evening in the presence of the family members and other dignitaries.
