Manjhi for abolition of Legislative Council, Pappu for Rajya Sabha too

Patna,(BiharTimes):  Reacting to chief minister Nitish Kumar’s call for scrapping the post of Governor, former chief minister and leader of Hindustani Awam Morcha, Jitan Ram Manjhi, demanded the abolition of Legislative Council.

On the other hand expelled RJD MP from Madhepura Rajesh Ranjan alias Pappu Yadav on Sunday sought the abolition of both Legislaitvve Council and Rajya Sabha.

Calling their existence as a “total waste of hard-earned public money” Pappu  said he would raise the issue in the Monsoon Session of Parliament.

Both the Rajya Sabha and the Legislative Councils in the states should be abolished as they are arrangements made by British regime and are no longer required, Pappu said in a statement adding that the rich and powerful want to enter them by using their money.

He said he would also file a PIL in the Supreme Court in this regard. It needs to be recalled that Nitish had on Saturday raised  the demand for abolishing the post of Governor at the Inter-State Council meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi. He said the existing federal democratic structure does not demands continuation of the post of Governor.

But Pappu said first Rajya Sabha and Legislative Councils should be abolished before the post of Governor is scrapped.

But the state BJP criticized Nitish’s demand of scrapping the post of Governor. It remained silent on the issue raised by Manjhi and Pappu.
