After Maoist attack, Centre assures Bihar of all help

New Delhi, July 19 (IANS) The central government on Tuesday assured Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar of all necessary help to tackle the Maoist threats in the state.

The assurance was given by Home Minister Rajnath Singh during a brief telephonic talk with Nitish Kumar, an official source said here.

The assurance came in the wake of the killing of 10 CRPF commandos by the Maoists in Bihar's Aurangabad district on late Monday night.

Singh also expressed condolences to the bereaved families, the source said.

Six other Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) men were critically injured in the blast in the forest areas near Gaya district of the state, officials said.

The Home Minister also directed CRPF Director General K. Durga Prasad to visit the Gaya-Aurangabad region to assess the situation.

The Bihar Chief Minister briefed Rajnath Singh about the steps taken to nab those involved in the attack.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ananth Kumar said the Lok Sabha will take up on Wednesday a short-duration discussion on Kashmir and the general law and order in the country.
