Tejaswi seeks to silence Jungle Raj-parroting BJP after party MLC’s arrest

Patna,(BiharTimes): Deputy chief minister Tejaswi Prasad Yadav sought to silence the embarrassed BJP after its controversial MLC, Tunnaji Pandey,  was arrested after molesting a 12-year old girl in Howrah-Gorakhpur Poorvanchal Express in the wee hours of Sunday.

“Kaun faila raha hai Bihar mein jungle raj Modi ji, nikaliye ab candle march...? (Who is spreading jungle raj in Bihar, Sushil Modiji, now take out a candle march?)," tweeted the deputy CM.

He further said that usually lotus flowers bloom above the mud. "But the BJP’s lotus is smeared in the mud. A BJP functionary is using abusive language for women, while a saffron party legislator was arrested on the charge of sexually harassing a 12-year old minor girl in running train,"  he said while referring to (the then) vice president of UP BJP Daya Shankar Singh  and Tunnaji Pandey. RJD's state general secretary and former minister Mundrika Singh Yadav also took a pot shot at the BJP.

"The derogatory remarks by Daya Shankar against BSP chief Mayawati and now Pandey's arrest for sexually harassing a minor girl has now exposed the real character of flag-bearer of the saffron party," he said.

The party’s spokesperson Ashok Sinha said the Bihar BJP flag-bearers must feel ashamed for what Tunna Pandey did. It must be recalled that Tunnaji Pandey, a liquor trader,  had in January 2013 lodged a complaint accusing the then deputy inspector-general of Saran range, Alok Kumar, of demanding Rs 10 crore extortion money from him.

Alok Kumar, a 1997-batch IPS officer of the Jammu and Kashmir cadre who was on inter-state deputation at the time, was sent back from Bihar after he was suspended.

However, the Patna High Court later exonerated the IPS officer of the charges. Yet the BJP  made him an MLC after he joined the party on the eve of 2014 Lok Sabha election.
