JD(U) refutes BJP’s allegation of rise in crime in dry Bihar

 


 

Patna,(BiharTimes): Strongly refuting the BJP’s allegation that there is rise in crime in dry Bihar the Janata Dal (United)  on Wednesday claimed that there is huge fall in cognizable offences in corresponding periods of 2015 and 2016.

Briefing mediapersons  JD (U) state vice-president Nihora Prasad Yadav and spokesperson Neeraj Kumar said Bihar has registered sharp decline in the incidents of crime specially those against women following ban on alcohol.

Countering BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi’s claim that there was rise in crime between April 2016 and May 2016 they said that the crime rate has fallen sharply when compared to the figures of April and May 2015.

Accusing SuMo of deliberately creating confusion they said that 268 and 341 cases of murder were registered across the state in the months of April and May 2015 respectively. The number dropped to 192 and 209 in April and May, 2016.

It needs to be mentioned that the total prohibition was imposed in the state on April 5, 2016.

In April and May last year 106 and 100 cases of rape were registered. This year, the number dropped to 61 and 79 in April and May, respectively.

The JD(U)  leaders claimed that there was 18 per cent fall in case of murder between Jan-May 2015 and Jan-May 2016. With the help of data they said the incidents of dacoity reported 23% decline, riots 14%, kidnapping for ransom 50%, road dacoity 30%, theft by 4% and bak robbery by 50 per cent.
