Cabinet nod for Patliputra, Purnea Universities

 


 

Patna,(BiharTimes): The Bihar cabinet, in a special meeting on Saturday, gave its nod for creation of two new universities in the state at Patna and Purnea. 

They would be created after the carving out of Bodh Gaya-based Magadh University and Madhepura-based B N Mandal University.

They would be named Patliputra University and Purnea University

Colleges in Patna and Nalanda districts , presently under Magadh University, would be attached to Patliputra University while those of Seemanchal and affiliated to B N Mandal University at present, would be brought under the new Purnea University..

 

Till now Bihar has 25 UGC recognized universities and institutes of higher learning. These include the Nalanda University, Indian Institute of Technology, National Institute of Technology, Bihar Agricultural University, Chanakya National Law University, Chandragupta Institute of Management Patna, Patna University, Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar Bihar University, Nalanda Open University, Central University of South Bihar, Jai Prakash University L N Mithila University, Veer Kuer Singh University  etc.

The cabinet gave its approval for eight proposals of different departments at the meeting. 

It gave its nod for a proposal to create four new posts in Home Guard Department, two commandants and as many deputy commandants.

The cabinet also gave its consent to set up a ‘Bihar Samvad Samiti’ which would take the government’s welfare programmes to people across the state.
