Murmuring in BJP over Gopal Narayan Singh’s selection as RS candidate

Patna,(BiharTimes): Everything is not hunky-dory within the Bihar unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party after the nomination of Gopal Narayan Singh for the Rajya Sabha election.
Though apparently even Sushil Kumar Modi is defending him and is brushing aside the charge that he is a tainted politician the truth is that the former deputy CM and Singh do not have a very cordial relationship.
But the BJP leaders have failed to convince their own raml and file towards the fact that some of the 28 cases pending against Gopal Narayan Singh were lodged when none else but Sushil Kumar Modi was the deputy chief minister of Bihar.

The big question is for what contribution has Gopal Narayan Singh been awarded. If Sushil Kumar Modi, arguably the tallest of all the BJP leaders of Bihar, has been overlooked as he could not ensure the party’s victory in last year Assembly election, what has Gopal Narayan Singh, a former state party chief, done for the saffron party in the last few years. He is a political lightweight who has lost eight consecutive Assembly election from Nabinagar (Aurangabad), a Rajput dominated constituency. It was only four decades back that he once got elected to Assembly from Nokha (Rohtas).

His name often figures when any raid is conducted on stone-crushers in Rohtas district.

That he is a Rajput and Rajnath Singh factor has played its part can not be ruled out.

Political observers, however, are of the view that money power might have played its part in the selection of Gopal Narayan Singh as it happened in the case of R K Sinha of Patna.

Besides, both of them have RSS background.
