JD(U) not to project Nitish as PM material: Tyagi

Patna,(BiharTimes): Stating that no party can fight the Bharatiya Janata Party alone and the latter can be defeated only by combined efforts of different parties as it had happened in Bihar last year, JD(U) leader K C Tyagi said on Thursday that his party had given up its ambition to form third front at the national level.

Talking to the mediapersons after the first meeting of the JD(U) office-bearers called by its president Nitish Kumar its national secretary general said the party has not taken any decision to project Nitish as prime ministerial candidate––at least, for now.

“We are trying for first front,” Tyagi said adding the third front is not in the mind of party’s leadership. It is not even in discussion.

However, he hastened to add that leaders like Lalu Prasad, Babulal Marandi, Sharad Pawar and many within the JD(U) back Nitish as PM candidate. Even BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi had earlier said so, he added.

Stressing the need for alliance he said that mandate in Bihar is not only for the state, but for the whole country. No one can fight BJP alone.
