Ram Janambhoomi Temple not destroyed during Babur’s reign: Kishore Kunal’s book

Patna,(BiharTimes): Former IPS officer, ex-chairman of Bihar State Religious Trusts Board and noted authority on Hindu religion, Acharya Kishore Kunal, has come up with a different history of Babri Masjid.
According to “Ayodhya Revisited”, a book written by him the Ram Janambhoomi Temple in Ayodhya was demolished during the reign of Aurangzeb in 1660 and not by Babur’s governor, Mir Baqi, in 1528. Subsequently, Babri Masjid was built.

The book also holds Aurangzeb’s foster brother and the then governor of Ayodhya Sedai Khan responsible for this act.

Kunal, it must be recalled, was the officer on special duty on Ayodhya dispute in the ministry of home affairs in 1992, when Babri Masjid was razed to the ground.

As OSD he had played an important role in trying to resolve the Ram Mandir dispute. It was during this period that he translated several documents and manuscripts related to Ayodhya. Kunal also came in contact with several Muslim leaders, including Imam Ahmad Bukhari of Delhi’s Jama Masjid, whom he invited for the foundation laying function of Mahavir Cancer Hospital near Haroon Nagar in Patna.

He says that Babar never ordered demolition of the Ram Janmabhoomi Temple at Ayodhya. He never visited Ayodhya. The claim of the historians that Mir Baqi, the then governor of Oudh, got the Babri mosque constructed in 1528 is also fictitious.

Kunal has quoted several English and French scholars to substantiate his points.

Former Chief Justice of India, G B Patnaik has written the foreword of the book.

Patnaik has mentioned that the book establishes that Babar practised religious tolerance and was not a fanatic.

Kunal also got some ‘firmans’ (orders) of the Delhi Mughal courts translated from Persian language for his book.

The author uses old documents, Sanskrit texts and reports of archaeological excavation procured from various parts of the world to state there definitely existed a Ram Janmabhoomi temple at Ayodhya.
