Judicial Magistrate receives extortion call

 

Patna,(BiharTimes): Nishant Kumar Priyadarshi, First Class Judicial Magistrate, Raxaul, East Champaran, on Thursday received extortion calls of Rs 25 lakh. The caller also demanded release of his nephew.


According to the FIR lodged by him in the town police station he had received an extortion demand of Rs 25 lakh failing which he would be eliminated.
Town Police Station SHO Ajay Kumar said the FIR has been lodged under Section 353 of IPC, which deals with ‘assault or use of criminal force to deter a public servant from discharge of his duty’ and Section 387 that mentions about ‘putting person in fear of death or of grievous hurt, in order to commit extortion.’

The Magistrate received calls twice from an anonymous caller when he was discharging his duty in his official chamber at Motihari. When he asked the name of the caller the latter countered him in a threatening tone to get his nephew released. The nephew was involved in a criminal case.


The caller also asked the Judicial Magistrate to pay Rs 25 lakh failing which he would be eliminated, the FIR said.
