The Nepal Medical Association alleged that the arrested doctors have nothing to do with the irregularities in BSEB as they all appeared in exams as genuine candidates.
According to reports the doctors and employees shouted slogans in front of the SP office at Birgunj.
On Sunday the Association even threatened to halt emergency services.
The doctors alleged that the actions have been taken against themn without proper investigation.
CIB DSP Phiroj Basnet told the media that the agency had received several complaints about doctors having obtained registration in Nepal Medical Council on the basis of fake certificates and credentials of other countries. The CIB, in coordination with Nepal Medical Council and Nepal Higher Secondary Board officials, inquired into the cases and officially verified the documents and launched ‘Operation Quake’ to nab the culprits.
On Friday, the CIB arrested nine doctors of National Medical College, a private institute, and Narayani Government Hospital of Birgunj and three practising doctors of Chitawan district.
However, Basharuddin Ansari, Managing Director of National Medical College, Birgunj, condemned the CIB action and said it was done without proper verification of the doctors‘ documents.
According to CIB sources, more than three dozen practising doctors have been arrested from different places in Terai area for possessing fake certificates and mark sheets from Bihar.
