JD(U)questions BJP’s silence over involvement of Prem’s kin in alleged crime

Patna,(BiharTimes): The Janata Dal (United) on Sunday questioned the silence of the Bharatiya Janata Party on the reported involvement of brother-in-law (saala) of leader of opposition in Bihar Assembly, Prem Kumar, in a criminal incident in Gaya.

A complaint lodged with Vishnupad police station in Gaya said Bablu, brother-in-law of Prem Kumar, allegedly offered ‘supari’ (contract) to a criminal gang to eliminate a bullion trader, Deepak Kumar.

Prem’s brother-in-law name figured after arrested criminal Mukesh Kumar confessed before the police that Bablu awarded Rs two lakh ‘supari’ for the killing of the trader. An advance payment of Rs 15,000 was made for the purpose.

JD(U) chief spokesperson Sanjay Singh, while releasing the video footage of Mukesh’s confessional statement to mediapersons, said it (the confessional statement) has exposed the BJP.

According to the JD(U) spokesperson the BJP leaders have always been making a hue and cry over the alleged rise in the incidents of crime in Bihar, but why are they, in particular, Sushil Kumar Modi and Prem Kumar keeping their lips tight now.

Bablu is a named accused in the FIR lodged with the Vishnupad police station.

When asked by reporters what was preventing the government from taking action against Bablu, the other leader of the party, Shyam Rajak said “We are doing our job and the police will do theirs. Police action and the party’s stand are two different issues.”

Reports quoting Gaya police, said a gang of motorcycle-borne criminals allegedly made an unsuccessful attempt to kill bullion trader near Baitarni pond on the night of June 16.

As Deepak raised an alarm, two of the criminals managed to escape from the scene, while the third one was caught by the locals and later handed over to police.
