Earlier, Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar said that though he champions the cause of yoga his government is not observing International Yoga Day because the BJP is not imposing prohibition, at least, in the states ruled by it.
The ruling Janata Dal (United) chief spokesman, Sanjay Singh, accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of using the IYD (International Yoga Day)for self-branding.
Another spokesman, Dr Ajay Alok, said: “We are not watering down the importance of 5,000-year old tradition of yoga. We are just oppsed to the event management done by Narendra Modi. Yoga has not been introduced in the country after Narendra Modi became the prime minister. This is absolutely 100 per cent PR exercise.”
However, senior BJP leader Nand Kishore Yadav, while flaying the state government’s deicion to skip the occasion, termed it as the bankruptcy of Nitish Kumar. He gave credit to prime minister Narendra Modi for getting international recognition for yoga.
Meanwhile, Art, Culture and Youth affairs department organized a function on the occasion of World Music Day at Premchand Rangashala on Tuesday evening.
