Patna,(BiharTimes): Aparajita, in mid-20s, was dragged out of the court room of chief judicial magistrate of Patna Om Prakash on Tuesday and publicly thrashed by elders of her own family, which included father, mother, uncles, aunties etc as she married the man of her own choice.

An MBA from Delhi and the resident of Baba Colony in Patna’s Hanuman Nagar said Aparajita married her neighbour Avinash Kumar––with whom she was in a relationship for eight long years––at an Arya Samaj temple in Delhi on January 25.

However, two days later on January 27, her parents lodged an FIR against Avinash and his family members in the Kankerbagh police station, accusing them of abducting her.

After the incident of thrashing Aparajita told mediapersons that she and Avinash registered their marriage in a court in Ghaziabad on February 2.

Aparajita further said that she had arrived in Patna to record her statement in the CJM’s court on a directive from Patna SSP Manu Maharaaj.

According to eyewitnesses some lawyers tried to rescue Aparajita, but that was not of much help. Her clothes were torn before three women constables rushed to save her. She was taken inside a room where she was given a cloth to cover herself.

They said the girl was surrounded by a few women and the CJM initially could not understand what was happening in the court. By the time he ordered the guards to save Aparajita, she was dragged out of the court.

Aparajita blamed her father Arvind Kumar, mother Usha Devi, uncles Sanjeev Kumar and Rajeev Kumar and aunties Rekha and Kalpana for the assault.

The police said she would be sent to her husband’s home after her statement was recorded.
Meanwhile, District Hudge Virendra Kumar on Tuesday granted anticipatory bail to her husband Avinash.

On the other hand Aparajita’s father told mediapersons who approached him that he had arranged her marriage with a Bengaluru-based software engineer. The engagement was scheduled for February 22 but she secretly married another boy before that date.
