Can CM Nitish’s advisor be campaign strategist of Congress in UP, Punjab and Gujarat?

Patna,(BiharTimes): The Congress party has decided to requisition Prashant Kishor, election strategist-turned advisor to Bihar CM, to design its campaigns for the upcoming Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Gujarat. These states are going for poll in next 22 months.

Recently he had a meeting with senior Congress leaders, including Rahul Gandhi. Prashant reportedly held a meeting with several Congress leaders of UP and discussed the issues of law and order, development, plights of farmers etc. He hoped that the Congress would win elections.

Incidentally, Prashant Kishor had worked to ensure victory of Narendra Modi-led BJP in 2012 Assembly election in Gujarat and in 2014 Lok Sabha election. It was only a few months later that he had developed differences with the BJP bigwigs and was wooed by Janata Dal (Unitd) and helped it win 71 out of 101 seats it contested in the last year Assembly election in Bihar.

It is other thing that Lalu Prasad’s RJD––with which Prashant maintained a safe distance and which had no chief mininisterial candidate of its own––won 80 out of 101 seats it contested.

Prashant Kishor’s decision to work for Congress has come as a surprise as at present he is advisor to the chief minister of Bihar, which in itself is a full-fledged job.

“Prashant Kishor is at present not just running any advertising company, but is engaged in a job which demands full attention. As an advisor to the chief minister of Bihar he can not be casual or work like a part-timer. How can he leave the state for so many months and campaign in other states,” asked a political observer.

Incidentally, the news of Prashant’s induction in election campaign came just days after a chief secretary-rank officer, Sudhir Kumar Rakesh, sought early retirement reportedly in protest against the appointment of Prashant as advisor to the chief minister.
