Patna, March 8 (IANS) JNU student leader Kanhaiya Kumar's grandfather on Tuesday moved a court in Bihar against two persons regarding rewards offered for chopping Kanhaiya's tongue or killing him, a government lawyer said.

The court will hear the case on Wednesday.

Kanhaiya's grandfather Bal Krishna Singh filed the case in the chief judicial magistrate's court in Begusarai district against Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha leader Kuldeep Varshney in Budaun and Poorvanchal Sena president Adarsh Sharma.

The petitioner said he had approached the court to seek justice for his grandson who was dubbed anti-national by his detractors and to seek action against the two who have allegedly threatened his life and offered reward.

Varshney last week allegedly announced a reward of Rs.5 lakh to anyone cutting off Kanhaiya's tongue while Sharma announced a Rs.11 lakh reward for killing Kanhaiya.

Sharma was arrested by Delhi Police in the case on Monday. Varshney was suspended from the Bharatiya Janata Party's primary membership for six years.

Jawaharlal Nehru University Students Union president Kanhaiya hails from Bihat village in Begusarai.

Kanhaiya was arrested on February 12 on sedition charge and lodged in Tihar jail in Delhi before he was granted interim bail for six months by Delhi High Court on March 2.
