Tejaswi asks defence ministry to apologize to army for deployment in
Ravi Shankar’s festival
Patna,(BiharTimes): Strongly criticizing the use of army in a private
function of Sri Sri Ravi Shankar on the bank of river Yamuna in Delhi
deputy chief minister Tejaswi Prasad Yadav on Wednesday asked the
defence ministry to apologize to all jawans deputed in building
pontoon bridges and other related works.
Terming it as an insult to army Tejaswi said that on the one hand the
BJP gives certificates on nationalism but on the other it asks army
jawans to build pontoon bridges for a private event.
“I am shocked...It would bring down the morale of army,” he said.
Teasing the Sangh Parivar he said Art of Living is a big name. Don’t
they have their own volunteers? What about the RSS people? They are
fit for the job, as they roam about in half pants carrying sticks.
Clarifying that he had nothing to do with the festival Tejaswi said he
does not know what equation Prime Minister Narendra Modi has with the
spiritual guru. These are matters of faith and he does not want to
comment on them.
“My only concern is why the army and not private contractors were
called to erect the pontoon bridges," he said adding “it reflects the
Narendra Modi government’s attitude. On one end, our soldiers are
sacrificing their lives while doing duty on the other, they are being
treated like ‘mazdoors’ (labourers).”
