Patna,(BiharTimes): Additional District and Sessions Judge-III, Purnea, Mohammad Ejazuddin, on Thursday sentenced Bipin Rai, a closeaide of the then Purnea BJP MLA, Raj Kishore Kesari, to  10 years rigorous imprisonment. Besides, the court imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 on him after finding him guilty in the rape of school principal, RupamPathak.

Rupam is serving life-term for murdering the MLA on January 4, 2011. Earlier, she had accused both Raj Kishore Kesari and Bipin Rai of sexually exploiting her and of having an evil eye on her teenaged daughter.

After the conviction, Rupam stands vindicated. It is other thing that she is in jail as she took law into her hand and stabbed to death Kesari alleging pressure from him to withdraw the case.

After the murder of Kesari, the then deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi, refuted all the charges levelled against the late MLA by Rupam. He even went on to question her integrity.His statement was widely condemned by various women’s groups then.

They are now of the view that after Thursday’s ruling Sushil Modi needs to explain his position as the court has accepted that Rupam was a victim.
