Raj Ballabh surrenders, could not be caught by police

 

Patna:(BiharTimes): After dodging the police for one full month the RJD MLA from Nawada, and a rape accused, Raj Ballabh Prasad Yadav, surrender before a court in Biharsharif on Thursday.

Though he allegedly raped a Class-X girl on February 6 at his home and an FIR was lodged on February 9 he could not be arrested till the last moment. This was notwithstanding the fact that
the DIG Central Range, Shalin, ordered his arrest.

His houses and other properties were confiscated by the court order and district  administration cancelled his arms licence.

RJD, legislator from Nawada surrendered in the court of Additional District Judge Rashmi Sikha in the alleged rape of a 15-year-old school girl on February 6. The court later sent him to 14 days
judicial custody.

A case under protection of children from sexualoffences act (POCSO) was registered against the MLA.

Yadav a former minister in RJD government has been MLA for three terms claimed that he is innocent and was framed in
this case. “I have full faith in Judiciary” he said to media persons before his surrender.

Last week, the lower court has rejected his anticipatory bail plea.

The MLA had allegedly raped a minor girl in his residence who was brought to him by a lady Sulekha Devi whom he had paid Rs. 30,000.  Later Sulekha Devi, her sister, daughter and mother have been arrested by Biharsharif Police.

 Reportedly, Yadav had prepared a CD of the obscene act and had threatened to hand it over to his security guards if she resisted rape.

Incidentally, the victim girl belongs to Nalanda, the home district of the chief minister Nitish Kumar.

The incident has triggered a widespread condemnation and protest by social activists and opposition parties.

“Nitish police couldn't arrest Rajballabh the rapist.When Lalu decided then only Rajballabh surrendered. It took 40 days to surrender” said Sushil Kumar Modi senior BJP leader.
