After PM’s departure CM raises demand for special category status for Bihar

Patna,(BiharTimes): Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar on Sunday raised the demand of special category status a day after sharing dais with the prime minister Narendra Modi, where he avoided making any such reference.

Speaking at the inaugural function of a bridge over river Gandak at Bishunpur in Gopalganj district he asked the Centre to grant special category status for what he said the all-round development of Bihar.

The Rs 548-crore road bridge over river Gandak between Bishunpur and Mangalpur in West Champaran district, will reduce the distance between Gopalganj and Bettiah.

Stating that there should be no politics over development issues the chief minister reiterated that special category status would enhance the flow of investments, attract new industries and create job opportunities for youths.

He said that though Bihar registered fastest growth rate in the last few years it would at least need another 25 years to reach the national average. This is why the state is demanding special category status.

The chief minister also said his government was committed to fulfilling the promises made under his “Saat Nishchays” (Seven Resolves).

Deputy chief minister, Tejaswi Prasad Yadav, who also holds the portfolio of road construction department, was also present on the occasion.
