RJD, JD(U) blast RSS for its stand on reservation, seek quota in judiciary, private sector

Patna,(BiharTimes): RJD and JD(U) on Monday accused the RSS of trying to end the reservation facility in the name of reviewing the system.

Reacting to recent Sangh’s opposition to reservation facility to the affluent people among the beneficiary castes, the two important constituents of the ruling alliance of Bihar instead demanded quota in judiciary and private sector.

Former Bihar chief minister Rabri Devi on Monday sought quota facility for SC, ST and OBC in the judiciary and private sector.

Talking to the media outside the Legislative Council building she said RSS does not want welfare and progress of the backward castes and Dalits. So time and again the Sangh raises the issue of reviewing the quota policy.

The RJD leader said instead of reviewing the quota system, the Centre should bring a legislation to introduce reservation in the district court, high court and the Supreme Court. People from SC, ST and backward classes do not get adequate representation in judiciary. Similar is the situation in private sector.

On the other hand JD(U) deputy leader in the Assembly, Shyam Rajak, demanded quota for SCs, STs and backwards in government jobs and other sectors in proportion to their population. He said reservation is not alms, but a constitutional right of the SC, ST and backward classes.

Rajak claimed that even after 68 years of independence, 97% posts in the Union and state government jobs are occupied by those having just 3% population in the country. The castes which have 23% population are not occupying even one per cent of the posts, he said asking why is RSS not seeking review of this situation?
