FIR lodged against Bihar BJP leader

Patna,(BiharTimes): An FIR was registered at Mithanpura police station in Muzaffarpur late on Sunday night against the vice president of the state BJP cultural wing, Chandra Kishore Prashar and 200 other unknown persons in connection with a clash between ABVP workers and those who organized a meeting of former JNUSU president, Ashutosh Kumar.

The event, JNU Speaks, was organized at Jubba Sahni Park on Sunday to protest the Narendra Modi government’s crackdown on Jawaharlal Nehru University. About 10 persons sustained injuries in the clash.

According to the senior superintendent of police, Muzaffarpur, Ranjit Mishra, the provocation started with stone pelting by supporters of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad.

Reports said that the organisers initially got the Amrapali Auditorium from Muzaffarpur municipal corporation but the permission was cancelled on Saturday night following objection by Chandra Kishore Parashar.

The organisers alleged that they were attacked by the ABVP activists, who were armed with iron rods. Suraj Kumar Singh, secretary, Nagrik Samiti, Muzaffarpur, said that when they arrived there on Sunday they saw a notice pasted on the locked door of the auditorium stating that the event has been cancelled because of objection from Chandakishore Parashar.

On the other hand Parashar told media that Nagrik Samiti Muzaffarpur is a fake organisation formed to promote anti-national activities.

However, Parashar accepted that ABVP and Bajrang Dal activists were involved in stone pelting.

However, municipal commissioner Ramesh Prasad Ranjan refuted having bowed down to pressure from Parashar. He said he cancelled the event in order to ensure no disruption in law and order.

It was on Saturday that Jagjiwan Ram Institute of Parliamentary Studies and Political Research, Patna, invited Ashutosh and Prof Subodh Narayan Malakar, the supervisor of JNUSU president, Kanhaiya Kumar, to speak on Dalit awakening.
