Patna,(BiharTimes): Two cases were filed––one in Buxar and another in Gopalganj districts of Bihar––on Thursday seeking sedition charges against the president of All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen, Asaduddin Owaisi, for his refusal to chant Bharat Mata Ki Jai.

A leaderof Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad Ramji Singh filed a case in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate of Buxar Hari Shankar Prasad. The petitioner demanded booking of the AIMIM MP under Section 124 A, which relates to sedition.

According to the lawyer of petitioner, Uma Shankar Singh, along with the writ-application, two CDs of Owaisi’s speech at Latur in Maharashtra have been attached.

Another case was registered against Owaisi in Gopalganj by Mohammad Qurban Ansari, a native of Ektarwah village. He urged the Chief Judicial Magistrate to prosecute the Hyderabad MP under the sedition charge.

Meanwhile, the issue was raised by the BJP MLAs in the Bihar Legislative Assembly. Led by the leader of opposition, Prem Kumar, they trooped into the well of the House and chanted Bharat Mata ki Jai.
While talking to reporters outside the Assembly, Prem Kumar said they were patriotic citizens of the country who feel proud in chanting nationalistic slogans.
