Nitish again flays BJP’s doublespeak on nationalism, alliance with Afzal Guru-backer PDP

Patna,(BiharTimes): Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar on Saturday once again came down heavily on the Bharatiya Janata Party for its doublespeak on the issue of nationalism.

Addressing an expanded meeting of the Janata Dal (United) state executive, legislative party and district unit presidents and office bearers at his official residence (1, Anne Marg) he asked as to what type of nationalism is it in which sedition charge is slapped on students for raising slogans but at the same time the party in power in the Centre (BJP) goes in alliance to form government with a party (PDP) which had publicly supported Afzal Guru?

He said all these emotive issues are being raised to distract people’s attention from the total failure of the Narendra Modi government on all fronts. The chief minister asked as to what had happened to black money stashed in foreign banks, which the saffron party had promised to bring back after winning election. Where are the jobs promised for youths?

Nitish reiterated his government’s ‘Saat Nishchay’ (Seven Commitments) for improving life of the general people. Besides, he dealt on his promise to impose prohibition from April 1, 2016.

The meeting was called in the backdrop of reported move to merge JD(U) and Ajit Singh’s Rashtriya Lok Dal.

State party chief Bashistha Narayan Singh later told the mediapersons that the JD(U) would launch a membership drive from June 5, the day Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan gave the call for Total Revolution more than four decades ago. The target is to make 50 lakh new members. He said that efforts are on to form an anti-BJP front at the national level.

He also said that the JD(U) leaders and workers have been told to take the message of the party to the masses, help the state government impose prohibition and work for the fulfillment of the Seven Commitments of the chief minister.
