Siwan, Biharsharif Jail Superintendents among six prison officials suspended

Patna,(BiharTimes): The Bihar government on Saturday suspended Jail Superintendents of Siwan and Biharsharif, as well as four other prison employees, on charges of dereliction of duty.

Both Siwan and Biharsharif jails were in the news for wrong reasons.

State Minister for Minorities Welfare Abdul Ghafoor, along with RJD MLA, Hari Shankar Yadav, met jailed former MP Mohannad Shahabuddin in the Siwan jail on March 6. This created a storm in political and administrative circles.

Incidentally, the visit could not have been known had a zealous supporter of Shahabuddin not uploaded the photo of the minister and RJD MLA with Shahabuddin on Facebook.

The inquiry revealed that the names of the Minister and the MLA did not figure in the Visitors’ Register of the Jail.

In Biharsharif jail the imprisoned Nawada MLA Raj Ballabh Yadav allegedly hosted a feast for inmates of the jail on the occasion of Holi.
