Neetu Chandra’s Mithila Makhaan bags best film award in regional language category

 

 

 

Patna,(BiharTimes): Actress-entrepreneur Neetu Chandra’s Mithila Makhaan, a Maithili language movie produced by her production house, Champaran Talkies, on Monday won the best film award in the regional language categoryof the 63rd National Film Awards.


Directed by her brother Nitin Neera Chandra, Mithila Makhaan, is the first ever film in the history of Bihar and Jharkhand to get a National award.


Neetu said it is a moment of great pride for her.


“I have always believed in standing by my roots. It’s a great positioning and laurels for the land of Rajendra Prasad, Bismillah Khan, Nalanda University and many more,” she said.


Nitin Neera Chandra, on his part, thanked the National Award panel for selecting the film.
“This is a collective achievement for our language and identity. We are just warming up to bring more laurels to cinema and Bihar,” he said.


It is the first Maithili language film to be extensively shot in US, Canada, India and Nepal. The movie takes Maithili language cinema on to a new horizon considering the film’s budget, script, cast and cinematography.
