BJP leader decries ‘red-carpet welcome’ to Kanhaiya

Patna,(BiharTimes): BJP MLA from Bankpur Nitin Navin on Saturday came down heavily on the Nitish Kumar government for what he said providing “red-carpet welcome” to Kanhaiya Kumar, the man who, according to him, insulted the Indian army and raised anti-national slogans on the campus of Jawaharlal Nehru University.

The state BJP has also flayed the leaders of Grand Alliance parties for giving time to meet Kanhaiya, who, according to them, has been charged with sedition, and is presently on bail. What type of message the state government wants to give by honouring him, they asked.

Earlier on his arrival at Patna airport Kanhaiya was given a rousing welcome by a large number of people, mostly youths. A heavy police contingent accompanied his carcade. Two DSPs, four inspectors and 100 police personnel have been deployed to protect him.

Congress minister Madan Mohan Jha and party spokesman, Prem Chandra Mishra defended the state government action. They said that the state government is duty-bound to protect any citizen who is facing death threat.

They said that the JNUSU president had repeatedly been attacked by the BJP supporters and had received death threat from several people.
