RCC chief arrested in Gaya

Patna,(BiharTimes): The self-styled chief of the Revolutionary Communist Centre (RCC), Vinod Marandi, was arrested by Gaya Police in the Vishnupad area of the town late on Tuesday. RCC is a breakaway group of the erstwhile Maoists Communist Centre, now CPI (Maoists).

RCC has been accused of violence, extortion and other Naxal activities for quite sometime and is active in Gaya district, especially Sherghatty sub-division.

According to Gaya SSP Garima Malik he is involved in more than two dozen cases of violence in the district.

RCC, it must be recalled, was established by Nirmala Chatterjee, widow of the slain Maoist ideologue Sagar Chatterjee, a few years ago.

However, later Vinod Marandi took over the leadership.

Gaya-watchers are of the view that Nirmala left MCC apparently to register protest against the outfit’s failure to avenge Sagar Chatterjee's death.

Reports from Gaya said that of late Marandi had been contacting voters on behalf of his wife, Sunita, who is contesting election for the post of Mukhiya of Diha Panchayat of Guraru block.

This helped the police to nab him in Gaya, when he arrived in the town.
