Patna,(BiharTimes): While inaugurating the regional consultation meeting of the NITI Aayog’s task force on poverty alleviation chief minister Nitish Kumar propsed the setting up of an independent constitutional body called Below Poverty Line Commission on the pattern of Election Commission.

He said it required fresh thinking and stressed on the development of infrastructure in the states with backward economies to bring them in the national mainstream.

The chief minister said there could be no uniform cut-off for poverty line for all the states and added that health, nutrition and housing should be taken care of while devising schemes for poverty elimination and care should be taken that the targeted population meets basic standards in these sectors.

Nitish also suggested that the socio-economic caste census data should be taken into consideration while forming policies for poverty elimination.
