When Shahabuddin, Munna Shukla, Anand Mohan can be thrown into jail why was Bindi allowed to flourish even during ‘Sushasan’?

Patna,(BiharTimes): Though Bindeshwari Prasad Yadav, alias Bindi Yadav, father of Rocky, started his ‘criminal-cum-political’ career in the post-Mandal era of 1990s he ironically grew into a full-fledged don––who holds business empire not only in Gaya but Delhi too––in the last one decade or so.

Thanks to his terror tactic he was elected unopposed as the chairman of the Gaya District Board in 2001. He has been in and out of RJD. He contested the Assembly election twice, but lost on both the occasions––once as an Independent and than as an RJD candidate. He has been in and out of jail several times. In 2011 a sedition case was slapped against him after over 4,000 rounds of AK-47 ammunition were recovered from his possession.

It is alleged that he used to supply arms to the Maoists. It is also said that in heydays of ‘Susashan’ a top JD(U) leader from Gaya district–– who was considered close to the Maoists––even tried to woo Bindi to the Janata Dal (United), but failed in his efforts.

From a bicyle thief to crorepati the story is not so simple. Today he owns malls, hotels, some 15 petrol pumps in Gaya, Bodh Gaya, Delhi and its adjoining areas. He has also invested heavily in road, construction, real estate and liquor business.

Bindi was also called as "Entry Yadav" by locals as used to collect his own toll tax from thousands of vehicles passing through G .T. (Grand Trunk) road and this could't happen without the knowledge of govt. officials.

His son Rocky got arms licence from Delhi in 2013 and MLC wife, Manorama Devi, has three arms licences to her name––one for a rifle, one for a revolver and third one for a double-barreled gun.
Rocky is a member of Delhi Rifle Club and had also participated in a championship organised by the National Rifle Association.
Too much have been written on these facts. What is not written is why, how and under which circumstances was Bindi allowed to reach such a great height even during the high time of Nitish Kumar’s ‘good governance’.
When the likes of Mohammad Shahabuddin, Munna Shukla and Anand Mohan––the last two are not RJD men––can be tamed and are cooling their heels in the jail, why could not the then NDA government cut Bindi to size even though a sedition case was filed against him in 2011.
Needless to mention, for seven and a half years the BJP too was in power. Besides, Gaya Assembly segment has been represented since 1990 by none else but the leader of opposition, Prem Kumar, of the BJP.
The truth is that be it Bindi or Bachu Yadav, (who has been marginalized now) they fully exploited the situation in Gaya district where Surendra Yadav, the Belaganj MLA of RJD, was the strongest caste leader.

As RJD was the natural ally, all the three Yadavs were in this party. But gradually Bindi––and to some extent Bachu––saw that they have market value elsewhere too. So at different point of time they clandestinely developed links with other parties.

Bindi, it is alleged, also became supplier of arms to Maoists.

In such a situation it was not difficult for Rocky to get arms licence from Delhi. His fathergot petrol pump licences as he has ‘friends’ cutting across the party lines.

No doubt Bindi was a notorious gangster, yet very few people outside Magadh division knew about him till May 7 bloody drama enacted by his son. Though the local media had been highlighting his ‘achievements’ regularly, yet the state and national Press never gave him so much coverage.

Why? It is easy to guess. No one in rival parties was so strongly after him.

It is only when his son crossed all the limits that everyone is now trying to wash his/her hands of.
But one man may have been pleased: Surendra Yadav. his rival within the Yadav caste is now in deep trouble.
