Six patients die due to junior doctors strike in PMCH

Patna,(BiharTimes): At least half a dozen patients have lost their lives in Patna Medical College and Hospital since Sunday when around 600 junior doctors (Post-Graduate students) went on strike after a mob of around 100 people stormed into the hospital at 7.30 PM on that day and manhandled those on duty after the death of a patient.

Fearing assault the senior doctors locked themselves in the operation theatre for one-and-a-half hours.
A handful of policemen failed to tackle the mob. The situation could be brought under the control only after more police arrived after about two hours.

Police had to restore to lathicharged after some junior doctors were not letting go of a few attendants who had allegedly attacked them.

According to Junior Doctors’ Association several of their colleagues suffered injuries.
Meanwhile, talks to end the two-day strike failed on Tuesday.
