Shahabuddin caught holding Janata Darbar in Siwan prison

Patna,(BiharTimes): Jailed RJD leader Mohammad Shahabuddin was on Wednesday shifted to Bhagalpur central jail following a raid carried out by the administration on Siwan jail.

At the time of the raid Shahabuddin was holding a Janata Darbar on the jail premises. Such Darbars are organized on every Wednesday and Sunday.

Those attending the Darbar tried to flee, but the police took around 50 people, including the former chairperson of the district board Krishna Devi into custody.

The police released all of them but not before taking their photographs and interrogating them. They may be further interrogated as per requirements.

According to reports police recovered eight mobile phones, two knives and other objectionable materials from the cell of Shahabuddin in the jail.

This is not the first time the former MP has been shifted out. He had been moved to Gaya and Bhagalpur jails in the past too, especially during election period.

The raid came following reports that the journalist Rajdeo Ranjan’s murder has some links with the Siwan jail.

Sources said that some 36 calls were made from the jail, which may be linked to the killing of the scribe.
