Production manager of Telegraph assaulted after minor accident

 

Patna,(BiharTimes): The production manager of the Patna edition of the English daily, The Telegraph, Rakesh Singh, was abducted and thrashed for two hours by four unidentified men in the wee hours of Friday in the state capital after his jeep collided with another vehicle.


According to Rakesh Singh, he was returning with a colleague from the printing press to his office in Fraser Road at around 2 AM on May 27, when a vehicle coming from the wrong side collided head-on with their official jeep.

The four persons jumped out of their TUV, assaulted Rakesh and then dragged him into their vehicle, where he was brutally beaten for two hours before leaving him in an unconscious state at the Patna Railway Station. He was later to a nearby hospital where he is currently recuperating.
The accused, who were apparently drunk at the time of the incident, abandoned their vehicle and fled.

Rakesh was let off after his colleagues started making frantic calls to the police.

“They abducted me and took me towards Danapur. They took away all my money and my ATM cards. They threatened to shoot me if I raised an alarm. After two hours they threw me at railway station and escaped. All of them were drunk,” Singh was quoted as saying.


DIG Patna Shalin assured strict action against all those involved in the crime.
