NGT recalls its ban order on big buildings

Patna,(BiharTimes): The eastern zone bench of National Green Tribunal (NGT) has recalled its order banning construction of buildings having built-up area of more than 20,000 square metres in Patna.

The NGT has, while acknowledging the final approval of the Master Plan for the Patna, asked the state level environment impact assessment authority (SEIAA) to review whether the environmental clearance earlier granted to such big structures conform to the approved Master Plan of Patna.

As reported the NGT bench, on September 16, had restricted the construction of big buildings in Patna metropolitan region, stating that environmental clearance was granted to the projects on the basis of draft Master Plan.

Work on Vidhan Sabha Annexe Building, Bihar Museum, International Convention Centre, Bihar Police Bhavan and extension building of the Patna High Court were stopped after the NGT order.

Construction on projects held up due to the order can be resumed following a review of environmental clearance by SEIAA.

Reports said that  NGT has given a week’s time to SEIAA to review whether the EC earlier granted to the projects conforms to the approved Master Plan.
