Several pandals yet to be inaugurated in Sonepur Mela

Patna,(BiharTimes): Call it a demonetization impact or anything else, a week after its inauguration the Sonepur Mela is yet to draw big crowd. The business was very dull on the very first day on November 14.

Though it was officially thrown open on November 13 yet several pandals set up by various departments of the state government have not been inaugurated.

Two pandals were inaugurated on Sunday. First, the Consumers Mandap was inaugurated by Union minister for food and consumer affairs Ram Vilas Paswan.

On this occasion he said consumers need to be vigilant against fraud and inquire in deatil about the products and also prefer ISI mark before purchasing anything.

This pandal has been set up for the first time by the department of consumer affairs for creating awareness among consumers.

State cooperative minister Alok Mehta inaugurated the second pandal on Sundy. He said the government has allowed online memberships of Primary Agricultural Cooperative Society (PACS).

Apart from this the month-long Asia’s largest cattle fair has till now failed to make its mark. A large number of people are seen lined up outside the ATMs and a bank branch set up especially for the Mela.
