Over Rs 20 lakh looted from bank, but almost all in old notes





Patna,(BiharTimes): Three motorcycle-borne criminals armed with country-made guns overpowered the employees of Madhya Bihar Gramin Bank’s Pande Paraswan branch in Gaya district and looted over Rs 20 lakh on Friday afternoon.

According to Gaya SSP Garima Malik Rs 19,31,500 out of total looted amount of Rs 20,29,640 was demonetized currency notes of Rs 1,000 and 500. The rest amount was of Rs 2,000, 100 and 10 notes.

Eyewitnesses told the police that the criminals reached the bank around 1:15 PM and inquired about the process to exchange old notes.

Reports said that as one of them engaged the cashier-cum-accountant in a discussion, another entered the manager’s room. The third stood guard near the entrance pretending as if they did not know each other.
