BJANA greets Raghubar in New Jersey






Patna,(BiharTimes):  Bihar Jharkhand Association of North America (BJANA) in partnership with Consulate General of India-New York, arranged community reception in honour of Jharkhand chief minister, Raghubar Das at Royal Alberts Palace, New Jersey, on Friday.

About 650 members from BJANA families from Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Ohio, New Jersey and New York attended it.  Many high ranking government officials from Jharkhand accompanied the chief minister.

While speaking on the occasion the chief minister congratulated the diaspora for their success and invited them to collaborate with Jharkhand government and support investments and social causes. He showed a keen interest in partnering with BJANA and SmileTrain to perform these surgeries at government hospitals and make Jharkhand a cleft free state. He also encouraged BJANA to adopt a village in Jharkhand under the Swachch Bharat Program initiated by Prime Minister of India to improve access and use of sanitation facilities in households and public places in that village.

To the delight of the NRIs from the state, the CM promised to set up NRI cells in the Jharkhand and said the state would facilitate interaction with its dispora.

In her welcome address, Ms Anjali Prasad, President of BJANA expressed willingness to partner with Jharkhand government in its Swach Bharat programme and also requested to setup NRI cells within Jharkhand government to facilitate transfer of knowledge in the light of the ongoing Smart City plan in the state.

Ms Riva Ganguly Das, Consul General-New York, congratulated all BJANA members for hosting this event and the participating in the cultural activities for so many years.

Mrs Raj Bala Verma, chiel secretary, Jharkkhand government, informed the diaspora about the investment friendly atmosphere in the state and invited business community to do business in the state and find new opprtunities. She also invited BJANA members to the Global Summit being organized at Ranchi, Jharkhand in February,2017.

BJANA is a Non-Profit Organization and it has in the past taken up charity causes in Bihar and Jharkhand. Very recently, it has partnered with SmileTrain a world renowned charity organization to perform free cleft surgeries in Jharkhand. It is also actively running a fundraising for flood relief in Bihar. It was also one of the very few non-commercial organizations to run a float during the India Day parade in New York City that represented the states of Bihar and Jharkhand.
