Former Bihar DGP’s son-in-law arrested for torturing wife
Patna,(BiharTimes): A special team of Patna Police arrested Apoorva Mohan, the son-in-law of a former director-general of police, Bihar, from Mumbai on charges of torturing his wife, Shail Mohan, and forcing her into an abortion.
The accused was brought to Patna on Saturday. He was forwarded to jail on Sunday night under Sections 307 (attempt to murder), 498A (subjecting wife to cruelty), 313 (causing miscarriage without woman's consent) and 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property) of the IPC among others.
Shail had lodged the FIR on September 10 at the Women’s police station in Patna. She accused her husband of beating and torturing her, and forcibly taking her to New Delhi for abortion. She was tortured and threatened after the abortion too. The FIR also accused Mohan’s mother, sister and other relatives, stating that her husband tortured her on provocation by his mother.
Apoorva is originally from Bokaro in Jharkhand and is at present posted as chief manager with a private bank in Mumbai. He owns a flat in an apartment complex in Ghaziabad in west Uttar Pradesh, where his mother, sister and other relatives live.
