JD(U) falls well short of announcing Nitish as PM candidate for 2019

Patna,(BiharTimes): Though the JD(U) national council on Sunday formally ratified the appointment of chief minister Nitish Kumar as the party’s national president yet the party desisted from declaring him its prime ministerial candidate for the 2019 Lok Sabha election.

Talking to the media at Rajgir, where the two-day  (Oct 16-17) national council is taking place, JD(U)’s national spokesman K C Tyagi said “though Nitish is a PM material with “secularist, non-dynastic and non-casteist credentials”, being a small party, the Janata Dal (United) has never officially declared him the prime ministerial candidate for the 2019 election.

Praising Nitish for enforcing total prohibition in the state Tyagi said  the step was historic and it demonstrated the Bihar chief minister’s resolve to usher in socio-economic changes in the state.
